    Thanks to all who participated

Thanks to all who voted and participated in this mini competition.

As always, lots of great images submitted - it is a pleasure to appear with so many talented photographers!

    John M.

Photo info: HDR image taken with a shift.tilt perspective control lens. I used the shift feature to produce a short panorama: shifted left; centered; shifted right.

Playing around quite a bit with software: generated individual panorama segments in FDR Tools and Photomatix, then blended the two results together.

Just for added fun, I produced a low contrast version of each segment in FDR Tools, then used a "Divide" math function with that version to change a copy of the first HDR blend into more or less a line drawing. I fine tuned that as a black and white copy; used an "Add" math function to blend it into the original HDR version; the went through "Edit/Fade" (doing these post HDR steps in Photoshop 4, often with plug-in filters) with the blend mode changed to "Soft Light."

Finally - HDR color and detail I like! From there, I composed the panorama from the three segments and then edited the full panorama version for contrast etc. (Levels; Curves).

(I have a lot of fun playing with digital photography files. Thought of a new variation on this processing approach today..).

It's pretty amazing what a person can do now with a digital camera, tripod, and cable release!
