Re: Cats (by request)
Somehow I was surprised that you were going to post images of cats. Figured you for a dog guy. #1 and #4 have the comp, color and detail on top of a nice clean background and are my favorite of the 4 for it.
#2 is lacking color on the bug and makes for a bit less interest. I might crop to portrait to bring it closer and make the detail stand out more while losing some of the dead space on both sides.
#3 has some nice color but less detail. It is a little busy surrounding the subject and this would lead me to maybe a tighter square crop.
That's part of the fun, to see how so many different people see things differently.

Re: Cats (by request)
Thank you very much Bobo,
#1 and #4 are on my personal top, for third one I like the soft focus and colours. Secon one... i might be with Paul for this one. Different crop and selective color? or B&W ?
Thanks for posting,
Leo
PS: The second cat, have some missing legs , .... complectly unacceptable

Re: Cats (by request)
Thanks Paul. Spot on.
These were all taken mid-summer when I first got the macro lens. Were not posted then due to some niggles about the quality of the shots. If I remember correctly these were :
#1 - the part just past the head is not sharp. Should have used a tighter aperture.
#2 - as you have pointed out - lacks detail in the subject though overall it is sharp. Might be better with a tighter crop but opted to go for a "lesson" learned sort of shot.
#3 - first attempts at manual focus from a awkward angle. Softer then I would have liked and this was the best crop to "hide" the fact. If taken now, this one would have been dumped.
#4 - got the orientation wrong. Focused on the tail instead of the head. It was hard to tell though.

Thanks Leo, we cross posted.
Yes just noticed the missing legs.
My own c&C is in the above post. If you had not asked these would not have been posted.
Btw, just remembered that #1 and #2 gave me a lot of grief that day. Never ignore red ants!!!!
