Does This Evolution Work?
I loved my granddaughter's eyes in this shot, but obviously it was just a snapshot. Here's a salvage attempt, any suggestions? Thanks for viewing

I feel the botton one is crop too much but there not much you can do about that if you crop back out you still get too much of the Mother ? head. How about just keeping the top one and maybe do a B@W, maybe something like this.

Re: Does This Evolution Work?
Thanks, Paul. I tried that also, but felt that it was placing equal emphasis on the child and her mom- my idea of the severe crop was to minimize Mom's impact as much as I could,, and I didnt want to "bull's-eye" the child's eyes. I went with a higher key and lower contrast to try to preserve the eye detail and keep the overall effect "soft". Thanks for working on this with me.

Re: Does This Evolution Work?
It might just be a snapshot, Kevin, but it's still a great photo of your granddaughter. She has a very touching look in her eyes and expression on her face. It's a keeper.
The crop seems good to me and I think it might even work in color.

Re: Does This Evolution Work?
Thanks, Sergio.
You are right, it does work in color- the hue of the coat is reflected nicely in her cheeks. It's just a different image- her mom prefers the color shot. But my granddaughter has such a serious and earnest expression on her face, that a bright color didnt seem to me to reflect what hse appears to be feeling/thinking. I always appreciate your thoughtful feedback.

Re: Does This Evolution Work?
Try the color version by cropping on the right side in the middle of the mother's head and on the left at the very edge of the child's clothes (allowing the clothes to be at the frame).

Re: Does This Evolution Work?
Hi Kevin,
Before or after the strike?
Does not work for me. The original tells it all.
Sure Grandpa spoils this one rotten.
