Thanks Richard, that was really helpful.

Congratulations Richard, really great photos.
It's fun to be at an event in which the people participating are interesting and photogenic. I love shooting people, especially picturesque subjects.
There is going to be a Pearl Harbor Memorial and World War II Swing Dance at the Cabrillo National Monument

Additonally, this "Troop Train" looks like it would have some interesting photo opportunities...

I would probably attend one of these events but my weekend is full with Maltese Rescue duties...
And you are especially good at it Richard.
My thoughts on this entire thread mirrored Donald's. His favorite shot is extremely good and one that just grabbed me. There isn't a bad one in the bunch as far as I can see.
My obsessive habits would have lost the hair around his camera left ear, there is a spec just below that jawline, I would have had to decrease a little of the shine on the nose and just under the camera left eye. Maybe touched up his hat a bit. And while i was looking at all this, I would be thinking I really need to get a life!
Excellent stuff as always Richard. You have a way of setting the Bar!
Really enjoyed these. Thanks for sharing. Someday I will venture into the world of flash. This is an excellent example of the difference it can make, like you said:
"I think that my flash opened the shadows under the subject's hats." I'm sure you are correct.
