Hello Dennis and welcome to CiC.

I'm very glad that you like what you've seen so far and hope that being part of the forum increases the enjoyment and well as the usefulness

By the way, so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

    Hi Dennis...

Welcome to CiC. Some of my roots also go back to Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Some folks may not know about the Scots who left Scotland for Ireland and then departed Ireland for America.

Many Americans from the Southern States and from states like Missouri that were populated by people from the Southern States have Scottish and Northern Irish roots.

Some of my ancestors left Scotland for Northern Ireland due to the religious wars and the persecution that they felt. Then, they left Northern Ireland for American ports like Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, again due to the persecution they felt for being Presbyterians. From Philadelphia, the began to travel Southward and Westward, settling the states of the American South and West. In America, they began to be called Scots-Irish while in the old country, they were known as Ulster Scots. This was the first group of settlers to arrive in America from Ireland.
