A rare one
The buck (or doe, not shure yet) on the right, is a very rare one. It never looses it's horns and is always in velvet year around. Always skitish, but on my hit list of better shots. This one was shot at 600mm ( 300 f/4L + 2X TC)

I'm not a "nature" photography enthusiast usually, but this is lovely. I love the lighting.

Re: A rare one
It is a most excellent image. I do like a tight crop, though, and for me it would be stronger to be cropped both left and right, and then necessarily from the top. I'm a bit apprehensive about not concurring with Donald, though!

Re: A rare one
I like the composition over all a good shot under tough conditions. I'm seeing a fair mount of noise but sometimes as we know you have to live with this in order to get the shot and can always fixed it in pp for the most part. A buck that never looses it horns is called a "Stag" and come from it's testosterone levels being low.

Re: A rare one
Very, very nice for all the reasons mentioned. If the halo around the animals is due to sharpening, use a tiny brush to erase the sharpening on those edges.

Beautiful image Steve, nice silhoutted composition. I never knew there was a deer that stayed in velvet year round, rare indeed.

Thank you donald. I was really surprised at how well it turned out with the 2x TC, and only 8mp.

Thank you dave, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so don't be afraid to make sugestions.(that's how we all learn) This image was actually cropped in some, and at only 8mp, i didn't want to overdo it. I kind of like having some space for the first deer to walk into.

Thanks paul. The high iso and 2x TC didn't help much with the noise. Not 100% shure if it is a buck or doe. Still trying to find out.

Thanks mike, i usually just run my edits with premade actions. May have got a touch too much sharpening

Thanks joe. If it is a buck, it has some sort of testosterone problem and if a doe, very rare
