Hi Bernard, Welcome to the CiC forums.

The EXIF data is usually visible for your own shots on your computer when they are open in an image editing program.
They may also be available as File Properties as Denise's third image (in first post) demonstrates.

For images on the internet ...
I use the FireFox browser and there are Add-ons available for this to view EXIF data.

If you don't use FireFox, all is not lost, visit this site; http://regex.info/exif.cgi, then paste the url of the image into the top box.
You can usually get the image url by right clicking and selecting one of the options there Copy Image Location (FF) or Copy Shortcut (IE).

    Cheers,

I use the ExifViewer plugin for Firefox. It can be found and installed from "extensions" in the tools menu.

I also have an exif viewer for Chrome. Just google Chrome and exif viewer and you'll find it. When installed, you just right click on the image and select view exif

Thanks for the quick reply Colin. I just thought I was missing out on some "tool" on the site that allowed that to happen easier than downloading, etc.

Anyway, I'm glad I stumbled on this site. It is truly a mine of information and by the looks of it, lots of very helpful people.

Edit: I didn't see all the other posts regarding this. I'll certainly look into the suggestions. Thanks all.

Sometimes it can resemble more of a "mine field" too

Yes, but much, much less so than some other fora I could mention. As a very harsh critic of my own lamentable photos, this is the only site I've found that I could be induced to posting a pic of my own to. Don't hold your breath though, it's early days still.

For Firefox you can find all info about the EXIF plugin at http://christian-eyrich.de/mozilla/fxif/, it contains a link to install it.
There's also a histogram viewer plugin, information here
