    No problem; don't worry, all is not lost (I don't think anyway), try ciphering through this, and see if it helps you at all. I haven't read it, but there may be something of use to you.

    Please let me know how you make out - I would hate for you to have lost all of those RAW files mistakenly. Best of luck!

    Hi, Gretchen;

    I found this helpful hint in a discussion related to exactly the problem you have encountered:

    "File->export with the kind set to original will get your original raw file."

    The original question in that forum was:

    "I need to import RAW files to iphoto on my macbook pro and on import iphoto turns raw files into jpegs rendering them useless for lightroom. What am I doing wrong??"

    Not using iPhoto, I don't know what they are talking about; but I hope that helps. Elsewhere, I noted a comment that this only works before any edits have been done in iPhoto; after any edits, the files are exported as JPEGs (apparently).

    Gretchen, my current download process is to save the raw data directly into its own file folder in my documents section. If that is not available in your options you might try using the camera manufacturers free raw converter to do the same thing. You can then work on the raw data as you please with your editing software from that folder.
