The Moon in conjunction with Jupiter

The worst opportunities to take pictures of the moon occur in the full moon. But, yesterday the full moon was in conjuntion with Jupiter. After a rainy day the sky was clear and ... I decided to take a picture of both. C&C are welcome, as always.

That's much better than I managed last month.

Can I ask; How did you focus the P510?

Mine won't Auto Focus on the moon half the time
It is so bad (at AF) I almost wonder if mine is broken.

Did you have to raise the exposure in PP, I'm surprised the shutter speed is so high "1/1600".

As you mentioned, full moon is not a proper ocasion to shoot the moon. Even so, you got a nice picture! I would reinforce Dave's question by asking if you used + or - Exposure compensation. I usually do it when using my Z990 for these type of shots. Well done!

I had to try several times to get focus on the moon and I lost some photos. Sometimes, the camera could not focus, sometimes the camera indicated that the moon was in focus, but it was not. I tried to infinity focus, but it got worse

The exhibition was made in accordance with rule Sunny 16. The shutter speed (1/1600) was calculated assuming that the aperture is f/5.9 (not f/16). But with the exposure of the rule Sunny 16, Jupiter does not appear because it brightness is very faint (and the moon seems darker than what we see with our eyes). Because of this, I raised the lighting of the shadows (from 0 to 50) in PP.

As I explained to Dave, I increased the lighting of the shadows (from 0 to 50) in PP.

The Z990 focused on the moon much better than the P510 (it didn't lose any photo). In contrast, the chromatic aberration of Z990 lens is much greater than that of the P510 (which is almost imperceptible).

I pulled the shadows until 100 and the picture is much like the way we see the moon through binoculars.
