Flood Waters over Marlow Weir

The heavy rainfall recently has meant that a huge amount of flood water has to flow down the River Thames and out into the North Sea. Water in the non-tidal section of the river, that is to say from Teddington Lock back to the source, is managed by the Environmental Agency who control the flow via theweir system.

This was Marlow Weir yesterday and you can see that the water level below the weir is almost up to the water level above the weir.

At least the sky looks somewhat clear. But I suppose there is still a lot of water upstream still making it's way down.

Thanks guys. You are right Trevor, the Thames source is at Thames Head near Cirencester in Gloucestershire. From Thames Head in the Cotswold Hills, the river runs east for 215 miles, passing through London and into the North Sea, picking up rainwater draining from the hills on the way. Marlow I guess is about half way and the effects of heavy rain in the Cotswolds reaches us a day or so later.
