Allan, beautiful shot. You did an excellent job of capturing that soft morning light. You might consider cloning out the red flare in the center just below the horizon. Also I would like to see it in a 19:9 format. You did justice to a beautiful place.
Excellent all round, apart from those two tiny red spots which Chuck mentioned.
Beautiful, Allan. Perfect timing (or excellent planning)
Have to agree, well executed.
Super shot Allan. Well done.
Dave
oh yea thats a keeper!
Very nice Allan,
What lens+focal length? (no EXIF)
I wonder if it my stand a little final sharpening?
USM at 70%, 0.3px 0 threshold looked a good balance on my screen (viewed at 100%).
It needs this because (I suspect) you uploaded at larger than 1600px on longest edge and TinyPic has downsized it for you.
For best results;
- save a separate copy of the image for web use
- downsize it (from your fullsize original) to 1000px tall (so it fits 1080 and 1050px tall screens OK), which will also make it a under 1600px width
- apply the USM I suggest above
- Save it
- Post it
Cheers,
Dave: thanks for the information. This is only a rough working as I am using a small laptop and once at home will be using the large screen. It was shot with a Nikon D600 using a 16-35mm lens, the f-stop was f/16, ISO was 200, and was set at 16mm. I also used a 2 stop reverse gradulated netural density filter that I hand held.
I think it is about 95% complete and you are right, there is no sharpening, I usually do as you suggest, however this one I let Tinypic down size as it is not a finished product. I usually only apply sharpening at the printing stage depending on the size of my image.
Cheers:
Allan
Great shot! there are about 7-8 red glare dots in the image but I don't feel they are so distracting if you felt like keeping the natural image. They would be easily cloned out though. Again, great work!
Alan, beautiful shot! Where did you stay? Bryce Canyon is so darned far from any town that it would be difficult to arrive early enough to shoot the sunrise.
Additonally, although I never visited that area in the winter, I am under the impression that the air quality is best during the winter months. I have however visited that area in the fall and it is beautiful...
