    Firstly, that is a really nice image.

    Crop - I cannot explain why but in my mind a 6:5 crop from the left all the way to the left tip of that dark land formation on the right.

    I would never have thought of Bobo's suggestion but I agree with him. I would apply his crop to the first one. I also agree with him that it's a terrific photo.

    Thanks guys. Just about to go fishing and will try the crop when I get back. Should I conclude that none of the righthand land should show?

    Hi Paul,

    I actually like your two crops as they are;
    in the first, I like the extra foreground rocks
    in the second, I like the greater emphasis on the sky

    This is certainly an image with which you can play "different crops" on for ages

    None of my variations lose that right hand land completely, although some may shorten it a bit.

    Cheers,

    Re: Another which crop?

    Thanks Dave. I think you are right - the sky is almost a picture in its own right and the rocks and sea certainly could be. As you say the difficulty is where to place the emphasis. It is odd how difficult it is to be as analytical with my own photographs as I can be with someone else's. You take them with a concept in mind and when you view them there are often parts of a photograph that would be better croped but as they were part of your experience you think of them as essential.

    Thanks Jeff, it was what I originally had in mind but I then thought it may be just a bit to busy.
