Pana View of Dundee to Broughty Ferry
Whilst up in Dundee I took the images to produce this pana view. Original size is 43 ins x 6 ins. The view covers an 8 mile drive from the Tay Road bridge on the left to Broughty Ferry on the right. The images were taken from the Tayport road looking towards Dundee.

Re: Pana View of Dundee to Broughty Ferry
David,
I think that this image would be breath taking if I viewed it in a much larger size. The problem with posting panos on virtually any website is that they appear so small that much detail is lost...

The view that came through the email was larger and I agree with rpcrowe it there was a way to see it larger the impact would be breathtaking. What I did see I was immediately drawn to the clouds looming, they look so real you can almost hear the thunder. A beautiful idea and result.

Re: Pana View of Dundee to Broughty Ferry
Hi david,
I agree veiwing this type of picture on screen is not showing it off to it's best Potential.
When you have it up in your local art gallery let me know, I would love to see it printed at the Original 43 ins x 6 ins.
Well done.

Re: Pana View of Dundee to Broughty Ferry
I agree with Richard, I'd love to see that 10x the size; 14,000 x 750, but that's not gonna work hosting on TinyPic.
If you have your own PBase or SmugMug account, I believe they should be able to cope, as may some others.
If you're thinking of 'investing' in such a web presence (this pictures looks to be a good reason), do check the T&Cs before signing up, I have a feeling it may be too much for some to handle. There are also specialist pano sites too, I believe.
The other thing to be wary of, especially if they're free, is you may be giving them rights to use your pics where-ever they see fit. But I digress.

Excellent bit of work, David. The quality can only be appreciated once you see the full size version.
And, of course, can there be more beautiful city anywhere in the world!? All those skyline scenes of Manhattan, Vancouver, etc. Pah! This is where it's really at.
ps - I should maybe admit that I work in Dundee.

Re: Pana View of Dundee to Broughty Ferry
Thanks David,
That took a while to download, but was worth the wait.
If mine, I'd consider creating a web version around 1000px tall (this is 35,857px x 1,910px) so it can be viewed 100% within the height of most people's monitors, allowing simple left/right panning.
After such a downsize (I'd go with 50%), you would have 17,928px x 955px, which could be sharpened at 60%, 0.3px and 0 or 1 threshold (see what happens to the noise; use 0 if possible - I couldn't confirm the sharpening values as the file wouldn't open in CS5, but fortunately it views OK).
The conditions must have been exceptionally clear - I cannot recall having seen 8 miles of coast in one shot before, very well done. It is fascinating seeing how the coast morphs from city to countryside and beach.
A very memorable creation,
