Morning Fishing
I'm still getting halo's when I downsize the image although they are not on the full size image. I am using bicubic smoother for the downsizing. Any suggestions?

Re: Morning Fishing
Isn't it bicubic sharper for downsizing and bicubic smoother for upsizing?

Re: Morning Fishing
yes, but the halos are larger with the bicubic sharper, so I'm trying to circumvent the problem. Bicubic smoother does enhance the colors quite a bit.

Re: Morning Fishing
Kevin, I like his image quite a bit. One of the features of the image that, IMO, makes it good is the use of negative space. However, the logo interferes with the flow of the image in my view...

Re: Morning Fishing
Sorry about the logo, I only use it on facebook and such and didn't mean to post it on here. I will post the other one.

Re: Morning Fishing
Try just using the standard Bicubic setting without any auto 'messing about'. I was never happy with those options.
After a substantial resize, I do a little sharpen with standard Unsharp Mask, if needed, at whatever settings suit the image in question. But an average would be 60% and 0.4 radius, threshold at 0 or 1.
With tricky images, I apply any sharpening selectively, as I would with my full size photos.

Hi Kelvin,
Can I ask;
a) what pixel size you downsized from, to get to the 1,024px × 683px above?
b) whether you sharpened the image anytime before downsizing?
c) what software you are using?
I agree with only using 'standard' bicubic.
That is a nice picture!
Thanks,
