Two Flukes
I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time on Sunday morning. Some fishermen were cleaning their catch and feeding the offal to the pelicans. It was all rather frenetic and I didn't really get any decent shots, but noticed a couple of interesting things going on the in the background of two images.
1. Collision. Pelicans are just too big to care about those silly gulls.
2. The Eyes Have It.

Re: Two Flukes
Oh yes, definitely better to get an action shot anytime. #2 is a winner in my book. #1 as presented at the display size looks too busy so anyone viewing these - check out the larger sizes in the lightbox.

Two cracking shots. I agree with Bobo that no. 1 is a little busy and does not take your eye direct to the landing pelican. No.2 is my favourite, I just love those eyes.

It was only after I came back to it that I saw the fish-head in the bill of the farther away bird in #2. Fantastic capture.

Re: Two Flukes
Bobo, Chris, Donald thanks for comments. I thought the eye in the fish head was a nice, if somewhat grotesque, match for the pelicans' eyes. Both shots are cropped from larger scenes but, as you say, they didn't really work because they were far too busy.
