me and myself...
hi all, i was bored and thought id try my hand at cloning. It was fun. And learnt alot.
1*
Clone1 by AllenLennon, on Flickr
this one i love the facial expression of myself with the guitar. This was done with continues lighting with softboxes. And because of that needed a high iso, and the use of a wireless remote(which is visible) other wise the shutter speed would be to long with timer. Lesson learnt.
2*
clone2 by AllenLennon, on Flickr
I like this one with the quality aspect, not so much the expressions but i was testing out flashes(very cheap flashes) with umbrellas. And with a matter of trial and error with manual settings, i managed to get decent exposures.
Please note, i did not do any editing beyond using layer mask to get the other half(or better half) in the photo, it was just a test and a muck around, later on i might edit the second image to get it satisfactory, inclueding some cloning out of a few things like the corner of a frame at the top right of the photo.
What you guys think??

Re: me and myself...
Ok, lets see how i go.
I Set camera on tripod.
I Used manual control over everything.
I seted up the camera settings till i got it right. Used f16ish.
I used auto focus first with remote and once happy with the focus i switched to manual focus.
I took a few photos for each position changing expressions and such.
I chose the best ones i liked for each pose.
I layered the two photos and made sure everything lined up.
I than used a layer mask and revealed the other half.
ANd there you go, the basic of things i done. I got more plans for these types of photos. And i will put more effort in shooting and editing them to.

Hi Allen, very well done. My ex-neighbour is a musician and I did the photo below for him a couple of years ago but it may trigger some more ideas for you. Good luck with the photography and the guitar playing.

Very clever, Allen. I completely understand what you mean about the enjoyment of the learning process.
The lack of glare on the guitar adds immensely to the second image. That one is definitely good enough that it would be worth it to get rid of the thing on the wall in the top right area of the photo. Also try tilting it a little to the left, which, now that I think of it, will also get rid of that thing on the wall.

Hokay Alan!
I ‘bout fell out of my chair when I saw these! These are hilarious, man! Your facial expressions are over the top! Just goes to show; who makes a better groupie than one’s self!
Good concept and execution. Fun photos are, well, just that!
Notice the white balance difference in the continuous vs. flash shots? (Bit of a green cast on #1)
And one other thing I might mention since you were just yutzing about? The reflection on the guitar face on #1. While you were rocking your shutter released at just the right angle to pick that up. #2 the angle was such that little reflection was picked up.
Looking forward to seeing you and yourself in action some more!
Rock on Alan!
