Nutcracker on Ice

I had the privilege of shooting the Nutcracker on Ice at the Ice Chalet here in Knoxville on December 4. I got the opportunity from Tom Geisler, one of the teachers at the University of Tennessee Photography Certificate program.

It was a very challenging environment, but I had lots of fun doing it.

There are a couple of shots below. My goals were:
(1) Good exposure
(2) Sharp
(3) No body parts cut off
(4) Good composition

Good stuff

I'd like a slight rotation on some of them (#4), and perhaps a touch more space in front of the skaters, but that's just nit picking.

Cliff - Excellent opportunity to try shooting the sort of thing that doesn't come along every day (well, not here it doesn't anyway). Pretty good job done in terms of your goals. I think in terms of objectives 1) and 2), the first two maybe a bit soft (although you have posted them up here at quite small sizes so we're not seeing them at their best). But you've certainly got the last two.
