EF 100-400mm F4.5/5.6L IS USM

Hi all,
Could you advice if the above mentioned lens with work finely with the Extender- EF 2XII?
I have got the lens but still thinking if it is adviceable to get the extender.

Hi Leong,

Optically it will work, but will be manual focus only. If you used a 1.4x TC it would STILL be manual focus only unless you used it on a 1 Series camera (eg 1D3, 1Ds3 etc).

Best bet if you need 800mm of reach is to re-mortgage the house and get an EF800/5.6L.

No worries. Assuming that youd have been using it on a crop-factor camera then that would have been over 1200mm of reach - what do you need so much for if you don't mind me asking?

Yes.

Yes - in summary, they have a higher performance AF system, which is what we pay the big bucks for.
