Frames for photographs

Evening all. Can anyone suggest a method of putting frames round pictures please? I don't have anything that would do it in my editing prog. and I think that a frame would enhance a pic sometimes.

This is what I do: In photoshop, I make a new blank layer. Then increase the canvas size by a fraction of the original picture or as many pixels as you wish. You can fill in the blank layer with any color you want. You can also put your signature on it if you want. Then select the picture layer which I move on top of the blank new layer and in blending modes use drop shadow to make the main image layer distinct from the new underlying blank layer I created.


You can record this as an action and do it automatically for all your pictures.

I am sure others will explain this in an easier way later today!

If you are using Lightroom you can get a plugin called Mogrify. One of it's many functions is to put borders on your shots. It is donation ware.
