Will an HSM lens work on a Pentax K20D?

I have a Pentax K20D. I would like to use it with a Sigma 17-70 lens. Will the HSM version focus with this camera or do I need the older version of the lens? Is there any difference between the lenses apart from price and manner of focusing? I have asked Sigma but up to now have received reply.

I don't know that I can answer your question for cetain, but there's a review of the HSM version alongside the older version. If you dig through the review, the reviewer does mention that they tested the HSM version on a K20D body.

Hi Brian<

I'd expect an HSM lens to work AF with any camera that supports AF lenses, it means there's a motor inside the lens, so not reliant upon there being one in the camera body (as there often isn't with Nikon), but I am no Pentax expert, so treat this expectation with caution

So true, but most change their mind when they see the work of Benjamin Kanarek. However, at the end of the day all modern cameras are capable of stunning results.

Yes the K20d is happy with HSM.
