Struggling to post an image of Chapel in the mountains

I am still struggling to post a message and a photograph. If this works I would like some feedback as to whether I should be editing my photos or leaving them as they are taken? Has the editing spoiled the photo?

HELP THREAD: How can I post images here?

Still no photo, Michelle. That link takes me to the CinC How to post images link.

Have you posted the wrong link?

Don't worry about it, many of us encountered similar problems initially.

    Hi Michelle,
I can see your 3 pictures in your albums. But we need to sort things out so you can be seen in the body of you posts, most people post this way and I think it's the best way to recieve C&C.
In the 1st picture, the trees look very dark, with a loss of detail.
The other 2 pictures are not to bad at all.
I would say it's alway best to carry out some PP on all pictures, even if it's just a bit of sharpening.

    Hi Michelle,

I have added what looks to be the most likely picture from your album.

If this is the correct photo, without seeing the original, or you saying what you did, this; "Has the editing spoiled the photo?" is a difficult question to answer.

Of the three pictures in your album, the first looks the worst (John has said why), this one is acceptable and the last one is the most natural looking - don't know if that helps.

    What software are you using?
What type of computer screen are you using?
(I am wondering if it may be mis-set, or being viewed at the wrong angle, either of which may cause you to produce a result that looks good to you, but not to everyone else)

Oooh, nearly forgot my manners; welcome to the CiC forums from ....

And that is a very good point. I am not sure about the angle for my screen (laptop). But it sure makes a difference to how the photo looks.

Absolutely, perpendicular is the only reliable angle, assuming it was set up like that.
Problem is, if the screen is shiny and your face is lit, all you see is yourself (and that ain't no laughing matter in my case!)

Thank you everyone. I see that this is quite serious business! JPS I get what you are saying about the loss of detail in the first photograph.
Dave Humphries, I have an LCD screen. I don't know if this is enough information. I am not very technical. Maybe its more a case of needing new glasses so that I can SEE better what I am doing.

    Michelle,
This hobby can be as serious or as laid-back as you wish. The only thing we all want is for everyone to enjoy what they do.
Some of our members are very technical and can quote facts and figures, others just learn what they feel they need to know and take things no further. Some just have natural talent. Whatever one you choose is fine by us, just enjoy.
I look forward to seeing some more of your work.
    John
