    Funeral Tableau for Jim

    Funeral Tableau for Jim

I had a recent visit to the States for my father in law's funeral. As a memento I offered to put a tableau together for the family. The shot included the following.
Flag in case that was presented to his widow at the funeral as he was a veteran
Bible as he was a man of faith.
    Bandana he always carried.
Lures to reflect his love of fishing
    Coins he collected
Old box brownie he loved and a fishing knife
    US Navy service medal.
Toy train made by his father when he was a child
    A belt buckle he cherished
    Photo of his wife
Catapult he had as a kid
His watch and wedding ring, and some pocket watches of his fathers.
There is also a candy cane in there as he had a very sweet tooth and appreciated a practical joke; he would have liked this breaking up an otherwise solemn picture.

It was all put together on a kitchen table with a few bits of cardboard for background, kitchen towels for diffusers and a single flash. Had a few members of the family helping with the project too on the day.

A bit of fun and a good memory.

    C&C welcome

    An excellent tribute.

From a pic point of view, that blotchy blue background could do with a bit of work. The flag's blue bits too.

What a very thoughtful idea, and you carried it out well. Looks like you put a 'texture' over the entire image? I kinda like it, but then I like textures added, some won't. I am sure the family loved it.

    Hi Ray,
I like this; what a great idea and tribute to Jim.
I wish I would had done something similar when I lost my father.
    Thank you for sharing.

Ray, what a cool thing to do. Awesome way to bring the Family together and think about Father-in-Law. This right here is why I love photography and this is one of the best uses for it I could think of.

    My condolences, Ray.

    Some very interesting items, too.
