Sharp and well composed with good colour in what must have been tricky conditions for some of those scenes.

Walked around with the Nikkor 18-35mm yesterday

    Project 2013 by Letrow

Had to press the shutter button without looking. Sharp but missed that front paw by a fraction.

I especially like the cat photo because of the perspective, even with out that little bit of paw...

There is something about the pose of the last (ginger) cat, Peter, which really works well.

I did wonder about cropping tighter but showing the house puts the scene into context; and makes him look bigger.

    Thanks Christina.
Geoff, I cropped this last one from a landscape to a portrait. A bit more would be doable, but I like to see that sky there as well.

I especially liked this last one -- partly the cat's stance.

This photo was taken in Haarlem, the day before Queen's day (our last actually, as we have a king from now on).
Looking at it I noticed that the 8 people closest to the camera, in pairs, show perfect symmetry in walking.

    Project 2013 by Letrow

The two girls at left, same leg movement; the grey gentleman and the woman who looks at the camera, same leg movement; the man with the bags and the boy in front of the sign, well they move the same leg, but it isn't perfect; the older couple, perfect sync again with same leg movement.

    Must be a coincidence.

I made some shots in the dunes, this one I liked best

    Project 2013 by Letrow

Not really special, but good for B&W conversion I thought

    Project 2013 by Letrow

Works out that I am still not pleased with what I get. The contrast I have in colour between sand and green disappears in B&W and whatever filter I try, it doesn't work for me yet.
This one is with blue filter (partly) and some orthochromatic filter added as overlay. Best of the rest so far.
I'll try once more I guess after my upcoming few days in the UK.

I think, Peter, the problem is that there is quite a lot of yellow in the grass areas which doesn't produce sufficient contrast.

I suppose you could create a selection or mask so the sand and grass areas get different amounts of brightness/contrast.

Thanks Geoff, that sounds like an idea I could try. But first I will have to sort through my 400 or so photos from my four days in the UK.

I always love Great Dixter. The place is well kept and always looks spectacular. Especially the wide angle shots seem to work really well here

The weather was a bit mixed as you can see. Dry, partly sunny, but with some big clouds overhead.
First time that I have seen so many tulips here, must be the time of year and the kind of bad weather we have been having.

A few photos from Dungeness, near the nuclear power station. The atmosphere there is always a bit strange, but I like it as it has a beauty of its own

Derek Jarman's house until his death in 1994. We first heard of him and his garden as we watched Gardener's World (probably Geoff Hamilton at that time still)

And a few views from the beach facing the house

An interesting design to that old boat, Peter. I wonder what is the story behind the odd stern arrangement. And the keel ends quite a way back from the stern.

Extended areas like that are sometimes used to store fishing equipment, like spare boxes or nets.

    Good photos all round.

I think it is partly storage Geoff and also partly decay. The boat in Derek's garden is slowly decaying over the years, which adds a beauty of its own I think.
