Re: Just one more to go
Very nice Mike, and interesting to see how that progressed.
One question from my side, just curious: where are the little purple dots on the petals exactly? I mean are they just a colour in the petal, or are they on top of the petal?
In your last photo they show up as texture on top of the petal (especially the one in the middle shows this effect), whereas they seemed more like colour in the photos that came before. Some of those purple spots now almost seem overworked, but I am not sure how the original flower looked.

Re: Just one more to go
Thanks for mentioning this issue, Peter. I also have the sense that the purple dots are overworked. That explains why I mentioned in an earlier post that with practice I think I can eventually get this stuff right. I'm not completely satisfied with the appearance of those purple dots.
For me, it doesn't matter how accurately the photo is documenting those dots. Even so, you asked about them so I closely examined the plant just now. The dots cannot be seen from behind the petals, which only proves that the color does not go all the way through the petals. The dots are so tiny and the petals are so fragile that I can't tell if the dots are a textural change or just a color change. I can't feel a textural change, but considering their small size, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
