An Experiment (please humor me!)

I hope this will interest some others, but for me it involves something I am often mired into. At first I need to know how noticeable it is (or is not). Please look at this photo and hazard a guess if there is something that sticks out as off, or not quite right. Then, when I get a read on how noticeable it is, I can reveal the issue and then we can get some opinions.

It doesn't involve image quality, composition or depth of field. Thanks very much for your input!

The mirror on the motorcycle is making an odd impression on the belly of the fellow in jeans walking towards us on the right. I had to really play 'where's waldo' looking for trouble in the photo to see it though...

That's really odd. How did you manage that? Is that an out-of-camera JPEG or are you using third-party or open-source converter?

It doesn't stick out until you see it...then it sticks out.

Thanks, Graystar. I must admit I'm not quite on to what your guess is; but getting to your question: it's an image shot in raw, converted in ACR and edited in CS6. Thanks again.

Well the first thing that is obvious to me is that the cars are on the wrong side of the road. The sky has held it's colour(oops color?) and exposure well and I wonder if it has been selectively adjusted or replaced. Certainly not obviously but I am just suspicious about skies. I am also a bit suspicious of the reflection in the shop window just behind and above the white car. The reflection seems a little bright and the shadows on the arm and body in the reflections is not at the angle that I would expect.

Neither of these things I would have noticed without you asking us to spot something.

P.S. I am ignoring the strange misalignment I can see on the very right hand edge.

What camera? Do all images have the same problem? What about when using the software that came with the camera? Would suck to have to do that...you know...little bit of work to every image.

I will say this, to expand on my introductory post: It's not only something that I am often mired in but I will guarantee that it's an issue that nearly EVERY photographer adjusts to at some point ... some more than others depending on what kind of images they like to shoot. So think globally, not so much detailed. i.e., Waldo's not there .

Getting back to Graystar: nothing to do with what's in the camera ... it's all about what you see or not see when you look at the scene and what you eventually decide to do about it. (oops, I guess I'm helping more than I planned at this point ... ).

Based on that, I don't think I'm referring to what you're thinking. I'm referring to the right most edge of the image, which appears to have a sliver duplicated and offset.

You're absolutely right about that Jon! I should have cropped that out or did a re-do. It's not the biggie I had to deal with though. Great eye!
