Greg,
When I saw the "gull" title, I mumbled to myself, "how interesting can a gull shot be?". I am so glad I looked! Beautiful shot of a beautiful bird, expertly caught and exposed. Congrats
Kevin
This one is a special gull and that red beak is beautiful. Glad you got the shot and shared.
... and it is called a Red-billed Gull. LOL
"The Red-billed Gull, once also known as the Mackerel Gull, is a native of New Zealand, being found throughout the country and on outlying islands including the Chatham Islands and subantarctic islands".
@Kevin - sometimes there are surprises despite the title.
Their guano, perhaps. Seriously, very nice shot. He looks like he's hatching some sort of plan.

"@Kevin - sometimes there are surprises despite the title."
I've learned that lesson as well, mate, and gratefully so
Great detail, greg, and a very good exposure on the white.
Thanks for comments, guys.
LOL, Bobo. You would be right if I were in New Zealand.
"The Silver Gull (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae) also known simply as "seagull" in Australia, is the most common gull seen in Australia. It has been found throughout the continent, but particularly coastal areas. The South African Hartlaub's Gull (C. hartlaubii) and the New Zealand Red-billed Gull (C. scopulinus) were formerly sometimes considered to be subspecies of the Silver Gull."

Wiki isn't always right, but numerous other sites confirm it's a Silver Gull

Thanks for the correction. I did search on "red billed" and it fit the bill and eye of your shot and looked no further.
Beautifully done Greg!
thanks James
