Andrea, thank you. I may have to reread this expose a few times to fully grasp all the implications in reference to the question.
Is there an easy way to find out if they speak the same language?

Dear Louise,
LR4 and PS shipped with CS6 release use ACR7, the latest version being ACR7.3.
PS 11, also shipped with the CS6 release, should also use ACR7.
PS 10 was shipped with the CS5 release, so it should use ACR6, the same used by LR3 and PS/CS5.
You can check the version of ACR used by looking at the info about LR and plugins in PSE.
To simply see if they use the same version of ACR: from LR open a file (edit in ) in PSE.
If there they use a different version of ACR a warning will appear.
Cheers
A.
The Adobe Camera Raw 7 is included in Photoshop CS6, LR4 and to a simpler extent in PSE-11. I really like the new set of sliders in Camera Raw 7...

At first, after years of using the prvious module, I was a bit unsure about this new slider setup. However, a Scott Kelby video on YouTube helped me understand the use of these sliders and I have begun to love them.

Thje map function is also well worth it if you do any form of travel or landscape photography. The ability to geotag raw files, and the ability to edit the geotag just by moving an image or collection of images over what was photographed is great as is the ability to fill in geographical information by letting google know the location.
