Re: Lone tree
Both for me.
I have a location and tree that is almost exactly the same but never shot it due to the distracting poles and cables on both sides.

Re: Lone tree
Bobo, no poles or cables here, but a hay stack at top of hill on right.

Lucky you. ![Smile](https://cdn.cambridgeincolour.com/forums/images/smilies2/smile.png)
Mine is also a lovely tree and certainly picture worthy. Must learn how to make those poles and wires look good.

Very nice shoot. I vote for the color image, I feel a great harmony in those colors

Re: Lone tree
I like the color version but the road keeps drawing my eye. I'm not sure what to do with it. Maybe desaturate the yellow line a bit. The asphalt also seems shinier in the color version. Both are very good though. I'd be happy to have done either.

Re: Lone tree
Hi Jack,
You had me staring at this one for more than 15 minutes, thinking what I would have done with the shot - thanks Jack.
Seems to me you like shooting high key. Looking at the histogram you will see a lot of clipping to the right, hence the blown out sky. With the white tree you would like to have a darker background. Shooting to far to the right, even in RAW, you lose the data to make any corrections in PP. (You pack too much data into a photon and it "overflows" blowing the data away.)
I like the composition.

Re: Lone tree
I like the color version. Juxtaposing the high-contrast, simple road with the minute details in the frozen tree is pretty cool. I think some of that's lost in the B&W conversion.

Re: Lone tree
Though I am a big fan of monochrome, I'd say color this time!
