    Castle Combe

Playing with LR 3 Beta (for levels etc) and Silver Efx Pro for mono conversion. Any comments welcome.

    Castle Combe

Also used CS4 to remove annoying yellow line up both sides of road

    I like this as well.

I think the level is good, seems that the curve in the road throws the balance off from what I see.

    Hi Peter,

I'm undecided on the leveling; the stonework on the near right is vertical, but various other bits weave this way and that - which is a fact of life in houses this old.

The houses on the left look to be leaning in towards road at the top, but that also could be how they are!

Those yellow lines we have here in UK are a pain, but the cloning on the far bend by left hand curb is a bit repetitive, closer to camera, it looks like tyre tracks in the rain, but on the bend, it gives it away. When cleaning up things like this, I frequently reselect the donor spot and brush size to avoid telltales.

You did well to get a shot devoid of modern cars and people. Having said that, it's almost too lacking in human interest, given the monochrome treatment, it needs someone in the distance suitably atired so as not to 'break the spell'.

    Hope that helps,

If I rotated ACW then the building on the right would lean inwards. The road bends left and uphill and the houses are very old and lean all over the place so I think this is the best compromise.

It is a nice picture overall.

Not sure if it is from oversharpening or needs more tweaking of the curves but to me it the surfaces are too bright and lacks enough detail where there should be like on the wall of the houses on both sides close to the camera or on the plants behind the window.
