Re: Lake Effect Snow
Wonderful. The subdued, muted colour works very well.
I think the last one suffers from not having a clear main point of interest and it is still too realistic to be abstract. But the first two are, in my opinion, very strong images. The placement in the frame of that little hut in the second one is, in my view, just perfect. We can see it and then beyond it and, then, on the right-hand side, we've got big trees and branches providing a solid backstop. Good composition.

Re: Lake Effect Snow
I envy you the big, soft, slowly falling snow. I have tried for several years to get the effect of number one, with the snow caught against a decrepit building (not that the house is decrepit ) but ours tends to be small and accompanied by driving wind. So I get streaks not spots.
It's a toss up for me between two and one.

WOW! That's something we don't get much of way down here where I am. I think I'm glad, lol. Great shots, though.

Re: Lake Effect Snow
Thanks very much Donald, Trevor, and John - your comments are much appreciated.
I had to take lots of pictures to get these few - most of them the snow was coming down so thick you couldn't even see through it. My favorite is #2. #1 was for the darker background of the barn to highlight the large fluffy flakes - as Trevor mentioned. And #3 I liked the dark stalks against the white snow, but then there was that mess on the right...

Re: Lake Effect Snow
Allan... Any time! I love the snow - it brightens up the world. Pretty much all winter we have lake effect clouds, so it can get pretty dreary without snow.
Bobo... Thanks, that means a lot.
