How is it done? When I open CiC there is this great picture banner with photos from the members. How are they selected, do they appers ramdomly? How do they become favorites? I enjoy it a great deal.

There were various galleries set up that automatically fed images into this banner line of images. The galleries are/were:
- Monthly Challenge winners
- Themed Challenge winners
- Admin/Moderator selections
The latter gallery was fine when we were a nice small site and we all saw all the posts and the Mods could choose images to showcase that hadn't necessarily been entered in, or won, competitions. However, now that CiC has grown and there are just so many good images being posted all the time, it is impossible to keep this up-to-date.
But, I do put the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed images from the Monthly Challenge in to the gallery for linking to this banner. I think Dave (Humphries) still links the Themed Challenge winner via that gallery.
