I really like the diagonals but that's probably because I'm a sucker for diagonals.
Sorry, Kelvin, but I don't see this as an abstract at all; it's immediately easy to identify the content of the photo. Regardless of whether we call it an abstract, it doesn't seem to have anything to hold my interest. Just my thinking and hopefully others will disagree.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Mike. Personally, the interesting part for me is the diagonal sand ripples. I would focus on abstracts of just the ripples (and maybe some of the shadows from the taller hills) and nothing else. The raggedy darker areas in the photo are distracting and have an unpleasant texture. Besides that, the composition feels off balance with the heaviest area being bottom right and being too close to the edge of the frame. Just my opinions.
