Difficult subjects with the background of nearly the same colour.

I have had little success trying to capture the flock. when the flock moves with synchronicity and you can pick up a sort of luminance in their feathers. I just cant capture what I see.

I know what you mean. I love watching the flocks all move in the same motion and the whirrrrr their wings create is something to hear...but alas, I also have trouble getting a decent shot, and was thinking I might try focusing on them manually because auto focus loses them...and I get blur. Good luck trying....I think with a telephoto lens, you would lose the whole effect of seeing the flock move.....
