Fascinating Turk
I had the most fascinating experience in Istanbul in 2008. This gentleman was celebrating the government holiday by sitting with a very large Turkish flag at the base of a monument in an area heavily traveled by tourists. Neither of us spoke a word of the other person's language. Yet I learned that he had been in the military, had fought in an historic battle decades earlier, and had pictures and other memorabilia that commemorated his proud past. After we spoke rather considerably, especially considering the circumstances, I asked to take a photograph and he was very pleased to oblige me.
Converted to black-and-white today. C&C?

I like it a lot, Mike. There is such a powerful narrative in it. To me it's more of a documentary than a portrait, if that makes sense.

Yes, that makes sense. I had never thought of it that way, but now that you mention it I think I see your point.
