Does this simple picture work for you??

Hi fellows! This is just a very, very simple subject picture. To me, it conveys a sense of tranquility. I would like to know your opinion though: does it work?

Does this simple picture work for you??

    Regards...

It conveys a lot more than tranquility -- shape, texture, warmth and simplicity. I do wonder if it would benefit from applying LCE to the subject.

    Hi Otávio,

It does - looks very nice full screen (although the border extends beyond my 1080 tall monitor a bit)

I wondered about a horizontal flip?

Paul as far as I can ascertain there are no spelling mistakes in you reply. I agree with Paul.

    Really nice, Otavio.

I supersized it to look at the detail, and found I really liked it that way (tightly cropped) as well.

Hello, Dave! Long time no "see"...

Here is a Hor Flipped version. I do like it, do you?

Thanks Otávio, I prefer that - but I can't really say why*, I just know certain things look 'better' one way round to the other.

    * Perhaps because I read left to right, my brain accepts that if my eyes scan a picture like that, this direction is more streamlined

Is there anyone here that reads right to left?
Which way round 'feels' better to them I wonder?

    Cheers,

Hi Maggie. Thanks for your feedback. By the way, I noted you're from Chicago, where I spent a period in the past. It is a wonderful city and I have the best memories from that period (although it was business and not vacation )

    Kindest regards...

Re: Does this simple picture work for you??

I would normally agree the flip was needed due to the stem placement. However in this instance I am not sure it matters and works either way. In the original I had no problem reading left to right as the center tips flowed directly in line with the far left bottom corner and my eye is drawn to the brightness anyway.

I think here it will be more personal preference and could go either way more so than normal.

LOL...this is a possibility, Dave ("Perhaps because you read left to right"). On the other hand, when I look at the flipped version, although I like it, I can not avoid recalling the place and the way the plant was when I shot it (right to left). It is like if my brain was screaming to me: BAZZINGA!

If you do a tighter crop consider having the stem coming out from the bottom left corner at a bit more of an angle.

I like it a lot, both ways. Simple, uncluttered... nicely done.
