Captive Parrot
This parrot was permanently injured and is kept in captivity for its own safety. Nevertheless, in "speaking to him (I don't know if it is male or female)" I had a funny sort of emotional (sad) response to him being behind "bars" that I tried to capture with this closeup.
Comments welcomed.

Re: Captive Parrot
I definitely get the incarcerated feel in your image Karm - has it been cropped? I wonder if you gave more room to his claw on the bars in the bottom right of the image that the feeling would be further enhanced ( Could you switch it to portait orientation and lose some of the left side at the same time?). He has that "get me 'outta here" stare down and you captured it and his feathers beautifully!

Re: Captive Parrot
I think you got it, Karm.
I went to our local zoo a couple of years back to do some shooting. I recorded the same type of shot, different animal, which I won’t post on your thread. When I got it back and up on my computer, I started getting that same feeling. The more I worked with the photo, the worse it got until I was just about in tears.
Then I had this big long discussion with myself on why I hate zoos. Realizing that if not for them, some species would now be extinct, I kind of came to terms with myself.
Guess it’s a love hate kind of thing!

Re: Captive Parrot
Terry and Shane, thanks for your comments.
Yeah, this photo has been cropped. Shane, I'll try your suggestions.

Re: Captive Parrot
He could muscle open the bars with his beak, and VOOM. Norwegian Blue; beautiful plumeage. (read with Michael Palin voice)

Re: Captive Parrot
Hey Scott, if he was a healthy bird I might just help him break free.

Re: Captive Parrot
Pretty cool photo.
OCD moment for me - I love the way the eye is framed in the cage, though I hate that shadow running running right through it.
