Front Door Wasp Nest - Murder on the door step

One of these murderous beasts stung me for no reason.... as I said on Rudi's post they set up house a month ago and seemed to vacate the premises. The other day while innocently walking into the front door of my house I was attacked by one of these wasps. I am not impressed but I have left them in relative peace.

I used a EF 300mm f4 Canon lens hand held at 2.5 m distance auto focus and f8 1/125 sec ISO 400. I didn't think that they would be patient enough to allow me to set up a tripod and a macro lens.

Comments welcome but I am not going to re-shoot.

Graham you were trespassing.... They do defend 'their' property.
Your wasps 'look' more agressif than mine. But who am I to tell.
    Good shot though.
Observe them and see what places ( flowers, fruit...) they like. Here it should be possible to take a few good shots.

Well time to call the whoever to come and relocate them.

Mine last summer were friendly. Got to a couple inches with the macro.

As Rudi says, they can be interesting subjects. Try shooting into the hive. The colours and textures in there are pretty.
