I notice that your username is quite different from your given name. If you wish to be addressed as Tim, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.

Jack - First of all you go to 'Forum Actions' in the menu bar. Then choose 'Edit Profile'.

Then you scroll down. In the left-hand side bar you will find 'Edit Profile Picture' and 'Edit Avatar' (Some of the options in that side bar don't appear until you make 5 or 10 posts, but I don't think that applies to these two).

You can have the same picture for your profile and your avatar, or they can be different. The avatar is the picture that appears alongside your posts, like my picture at the side of this post.

The other thing you'll want to know about is how to post pictures into messages on the forum. For that you need to read this post - HELP THREAD: How can I post images here?
