New Amateur Photographer

Hey gang - I found this site while looking for articles on photography and I think it's an excellent resource and I'm excited to have the opportunity to participate.
Recently I've gotten into photography - my side business is music - and taking photos seems to keep the creative juices flowing in me and there seem to be fewer gaps in my productivity of making music. So I think I'll keep with it for a while!
There are many, many great beautiful photos on this site and I'm just hoping I can contribute some of my own. I'm a true beginner but I'm more than willing to learn from constructive criticism; which is something I know I can get from this site. The only thing I know at this point about photography is that I know what I think looks good, so I'll do my best to productively contribute. Thanks for having me.

I do hope you enjoy being involved. I hope/think what you'll find on here that people are allowed to be a beginner and not know a lot (we were all there once). I understand that in some other forums people forget that they once didn't know anything either and criticism can be pretty rude and disheartening. That's not the culture on here.

There are lots of people with vast amounts of knowledge and experience who are only to glad to share that in order to contribute to learning and the development of skills. So please do ask questions, post up images for comment, etc.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

I'm happy that beginners aren't shunned here. There are many a music forum that tend to not want to cater to beginners, but you're right - we've all been there before.
