Thanks Mike. I walk around that pond with my dog at 6:15am every morning. My house is just on the right out of shot. We look out over this bit of ground. I'm chairperson of the group of volunteers who look after the Green, which is a community asset gifted by the former owners and creators of this garden.
Not in the least. For me it's very much a case of choosing what the image will be before shooting and then never changing my mind. So, if I shoot for a B & W that's all it will ever be. I'll never make it into colour and vice-versa. That's just the way I need to work in order to train myself to see in B & W. Other people are different.

Hi Donald, it really is an imposing building and the story behind it is very interesting, the castle and the famous rampart throughout the city are a corner stone of our history! Next time i go downtown ill try to get some good photograph of the latter.
I took this picture from our porch looking south across the road. My husband is in the upper right weed eating our fence. We live in a rather remote area, so this would be my local landmark.

What a view! And a very nice photo with its variety of undulating lines.
Thanks, Bruce.
LOL the only (somewhat) straight lines around here are the tree trunks.

I have a love/hate relationship with this sculpture. It was commissioned by the City of Lakeland. Florida from Albert Paley in 2004. Titled " Tribute to Volunteerism" it is dedicated to all who volunteer to make the city what it is.

Superb, Jimmy. A wonderful panorama.
What an amazing building, Jimmy. Hope we can see some more from you of this great castle. Hey, Marie, there's nowt wrong with living in the countryside lass, especially with such lovely views on your doorstep :)
The UK police tazered a guy with vision impairment because he was carrying a white stick which they mistook for a Samurai sword! Honest, no messin'. I dread to think what they would do if they came across your statue, Joe
OK, who's missing from class? If you haven't joined this thread yet with one of your photos of your neighbourhood, what are you waiting for?
