Re: Great Horned Fledgling
Thank you, Nat. I am not familar with what you have in your area but I bet the more you get into the search the more wonderful things you will find. A little secret to my success in finding many of the harder to find animals in my area, aside from a lot of leg work.....
I started frequenting the areas around town that the birders frequent. You know the guys whom walk around all day spotting bird in the binoculars and writing them in a list. In these same places you will find guys with 500-800 primes on tripods. Get to know them...get to know them well. They have a network of friends whom do the same thing all over. Anytime someone spots a great find they call eachother.
Many times they will all post their work from a particular place all in the same forum such as in a group on flickr. When you join this group you will see what they find and where. Maybe even get a call yourself. The group of guys I found is a solid bunch of 12 or so and cover from Canada to the south shores of Washington. However on certain days we can all be found in one particular park right here in town.
There are also sites such as this link.... http://birding.aba.org/maillist/WA that birders post sightings on. Can be very helpful

Re: Great Horned Fledgling
It will surely open a new world to you! I look forword to hearing how you get on. The spring will be apon us soon and things will be busy. BTW....most of the birding groups....Audobon and such do small birding tours in the parks here. Go on a couple tours at different places and after that you can go yourself. Enjoy.
