This is Jaqueline, a 7 month old Maltese-mix puppy, that was ravaged by a big dog... She lost her right eye and we are trying to save some sight in her left eye.





The above images were shot by an American Maltese Rescue Volunteer at the veterinary eye specialist. The vet said that there is a possibility of saving some sight in her left eye. But, there was too much blood in the eye to make an accurate assessment.

We are fostering her and she has been on a regimen of eye drops and other meds to reduce the blood and prevent infection.





I am driving this darling girl back to the vet in Pasadena on Wednesday 13 February 2013 and we are hoping against hope that surgery will help her retain at least some vision.

Thankfully blind dogs can get along better than blind humans because the dog depends on its hearing and acute sense of smell to get around...

We just got the bad news from the veterinary eye doctor. There is no hope of restoring jacqueline's sight.

She seems to be doing quite well sightless and is a darling dog. We had another foster blind dog that did super well without sight.

Oh that really is too bad but as you say dogs are remarkably adaptive. Hope she finds a very special furever home.
