The Chinese television channel here in Canada runs a daily series of selected nature or weather related photographs on their main evening news. One of the dozens of daily submissions is then selected as a "Photo of the Day" and posted to their website along with some of the other submissions.
As it gained in popularity, the station found a sponsor and made it a monthly competition starting in February 2013. The Photos of the Day for the entire month are used as the basis for the online vote. The winner gets a Canon T3i + kit lens and one of the voters of the winning entry gets a Canon s110 (not bad).
My Chinese friends here have been asking me to submit some of mine for a long time which I have resisted simply because I do not think my stuff is up to that kind of scrutiny.
But a competition with prizes is really tempting.
So.... on Valentine's Day (Feb 14) I submitted one under my wife's name. Surprisingly, it made it as the Day's Photo and got into the monthly competition. Quite something for the ego!
This was the shot.
Unfortunately they messed up the cropping and cut off their tail ends as seen here. Really pissed with that!
Not that it is all that bad but still would have preferred they had not done that.
You can see all the entries here.

The competition is open to all Canadian residents (except Quebec). It runs from 1-7 March and winner(s) announced on the 12th.
Please note that I am not canvassing for votes (or maybe I am, not sure about that, very mixed feelings at the moment).
More importantly, I wish to share a pretty important chapter in my photographic journey. A journey that started with knowing almost nothing and being urged along over the many months by you - the wonderful people here at CiC. Thank you.
Thanks for viewing. I will update this whatever the result may be.
