Nice revision! By the way, this would make a wonderful black-and-white photo.

Tom I feel like you brought a great capture here, then transformed it to a fantastic image well worth the considerations of the local paper.

Thanks all for the kind comments. It was one of those shots that when you got it you knew, lol. Now only 5,000 more until that next one, lol. I reckon the practice will never hurt.

I went ahead and submitted it to one local magazine that only prints in color for consideration. I am still waiting to hear.

I submitted the edited one without the pole; is this ok? What are the guidelines when submitting to newspapers. Should it remain unedited aside from color since it is news? I would think this is a slippery slope since news should be unbiased and accurate. Thanks for the information.

I live in the beach area which has a huge influx of tourists during the spring through fall. I was hoping to take a few of my better geographically related shots to print and then offer them at the farmers market. I thought this might be one way to earn money for some real equipment. How does print work? Should they be numbered? I am totally new, so any help in this area is greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

What size prints, and straight prints or ready framed?

A couple of years ago, a friend had a cafe (small UK coastal town) and I sold a few framed prints there. He had some free variable wall decoration in return. A4 or A3 size.

Another option which I offered were high quality 'greetings cards'. Not cheap postcards but good quality prints on real photo paper which was folded, much like a Christmas or Birthday Card. Approx 8 x 6 ins when folded. With an inner space for the purchaser to write a message and send it to a friend.

I placed a card plus envelope inside a cellophane bag. The rear of the card had a few words of explanation about the photo plus a small advert for my friend's cafe.

But after he sold that business I stopped selling my photos.
