PP Challenge #18 - THE RESULT
After a huge entry and an equally large voting turnout (thank you everyone) for the competition (which you can view here), I am delighted to announce that the winner of the 18th PP Challenge is ........
Diane
with
But a special mention also to
Bobo
with
who chased Diane all the way to the line.
Diane is now invited to post up a message here explaining what she did and how she did it, as well as providing a RAW file for the next PP Challenge, which will begin in a few days time. Watch out for the announcement.

Re: PP Challenge #18 - THE RESULT
Hi All
I can only say thank you, I am speechless, this is such a complement. I am so glad I wrote down what I did even though I never expected to refer back to my notes. I had been trying to master combining pictures in PSE9 when I saw the picture of the boat in the PP Challenge and I thought wow that is something I would love to see outside my window. This brought to mind a picture I had taken of the cottage window and the old lamp that is there so I thought it would be great to combine the two.
This is the cottage picture I believe it was taken with my old Fuji point and shoot.
On this picture I adjusted white balance, and clarity, I lightened shadows and gave a slight sharpen in LR3.
On the boat image I just adjusted clarity and gave a slight sharpen in LR3.
I then moved both images to PSE9 where I put the window on a level over the boat using the free transform for size. Then it was straight layer mask and painted away what I didn't want from the window picture adjusting opacity over the lamp so I didn't lose it's detail but we still saw the boat. I also added a slight gradient from the top and also from the bottom adjusting opacity but allowing us to focus on the boat rather than items around the window.
Thank you all again and also congratulations to Bobo, I would love to know how he did his picture.

Re: PP Challenge #18 - THE RESULT
Congrats to you both. These were my two top pics but in the end I gave my vote to Diane because of the way she handled the transparency of the light bowl so that the ship came through. Easy to do badly but its takes skill to do it well, and you did. Again congrats to both of you. Am looking forward to #19
