Nice surprise find
I bought a couple of boxes of assorted items at an auction today knowing that there were 24+ pocket knives, 20+ older lighters, a couple old boxes of ammo and some junk. When I got home and started going through the contents I found this nice little surprise. A trench art lighter made from a 20mm mk-2 casing with a 1944 Half Penny soldered on the side and a 1944 Farthing on the top cap. This little gem should fit nicely in my Trench Art collection.

Re: Nice surprise find
I like image 2 best. I guess because it shows both coins made into art. A real cool find. When I was a young boy my father machined a couple mercury dimes (removed everything around her head except coin rims) and made earings for my mom, I always thought that was the coolest gift. Dad ran his own tool and die shop by the way.

Re: Nice surprise find
These are some of your best studio photos, Jon. Just out of curiosity, is the color of the subject reasonably accurate or did you use a creative color cast?

Re: Nice surprise find
Thanks Mike. The color is really close to the actual patina on the piece. I tweaked it just slightly

Re: Nice surprise find
Hi Jon - I like the second picture best of all - lovely colors. Of the conversions I want to like the third best (for the atmosphere), but I can make out the coins better in the second.
Very nice find and shots!
