Dof preview button

I have a Canon 550D too. I tried many times to use the DoF button, but honestly all I can see through the viewfinder is just a darker image.

Actually I never tried to use it with Live View, I hope to get better results

As advised by Bill, I tried using the DoF button on Live Mode. Nothing happened. May be I'm missing something???

I must agree that it is likely that you doing something incorrectly. I do not know what that might be.

I can use DoF Preview when in Live View Mode, for my Canon cameras.

I can only suggest that you meticulously follow the LIve View set up procedure in the User Manual, if that fails then perhaps get some hands on assistance from the store where you bought the camera to investigate if there is a fault, or not.
