Florida Scrub Jay

This bird is found only in Florida, there is a movement to make it the state bird. It is very endangered because of destruction of habitat, note the bands on both legs. All are tracked very closely to ensure the continuance of the species. These birds were photographed at Merritt Island NWR where there is protected habitat for them to live and nest. My wife and I had looked for these birds all day finally finding them at dusk as they came out of the underbrush to feed. Condidering the lack of light I am satisfied with the results.
