You and I against the world

You and I against the world

I spotted this loving couple oblivious caught up in their own moment and unaware of the hostile looking group approaching.

It was as if love threw an invisible safety net around them..with a wee touch of French Cinematic license.

    ...so I am a romantic...shoot me! lol

All C&C welcome but leave me to put your suggestions into practice please.

Very nice soft focus technique. Can't tell how hostile the approaching group is, I thought it was another couple at first.

great strong image as ever Sharon. maybe a tad soft for my taste especially on the couple, which i think if just a little sharper would have more impact.

Lovely image, but look. She's all around him but his hands are by his sides. Not at all sure he is in the moment. Not C&C I know, but I'm a "realistic romantic"

This is one of the few street photos I would hang on my wall. One of your best images yet, though not in my mind for the reasons that you apparently like it. I don't see the oncoming group as at all hostile. For me, the sign, "Zest," juxtaposes exceptionally well with the couple's togetherness because of their apparent zest for each other, for life, or for whatever the viewer wants to think.

Very nice image, and I see it very much like Mike. I also like the second sign....Road Maps. Because of the DOF and PP that sign feels as if it could be read a few different ways and is up to the viewers interpretation and will very depending apon how the image strikes them.

While the image of the couple is nice the overall image doesn't work for me because the approaching individuals are far to indistinct. Without the explanatory text I wouldn't have any idea that they were hostile. An image that needs to be explained in text doesn't work as an image.

It doesn't matter whether they were hostile or wearing clowns outfits and clutching flowers Dan...as you rightly point out they are indistinct and that is because the essence of the picture is the 'seperateness' of the couple from the world around them, caught up as they are in a moment of their own. I am sorry that you can't see that in the image.

Very good image. The juxtaposition of black and white areas works very well. The man light top and the women face and hand well lit make the picture. The two signs add to the story. Humm, shall I picture you sitting at the caffé terrasse, sipping espresso, waiting to rase your camera at the perfect moment?

Sharon, I had to study this photograph for awhile. After some consideration I think you have captured this photo very well.
It says it all in the title. Bruce

    Thank you Bruce and Louise.

Louise I would love to have been sitting sipping wspresso waiting for 'the moment'..in reality I was skulking in a doorway dodging raindrops dripping down the back of my neck.

Just creates all the sort of mood and atmosphere that I love. An image to wallow in.

St Andrews has never looked so good.

Hi Sharon - I've visited this image several times (probably more like 10!), and I haven't commented, just been watching the comments fly in.

Rather than comment on others comments, I'll just comment on the photo.

    I love it.
