No need to get crabby about spot colour it works fine. If it still worries you just wash it away with salt water if you can find some.

No photo manipulation. The rock is calcified coral, great texture and this is it's natural colour. Spot colour is still a very popular technique and this reminded me of it.

Further info, the crab shell is exactly that - no crab inside. Shed the old shell and walked out backwards.
If you check out the eyes you can see there is nothing there. I find the whole molting process fascinating.
